If you go: Steelers vs. Browns
Sunday, October 10, 2004

The Steelers and Heinz Field management remind fans attending the Steelers' game against the Cleveland Browns about some traffic and access matters.

Parking

Fans without pre-sold parking should utilize parking areas in Downtown, Station Square or one of the Port Authority's Park and Ride lots. Additionally, the Gateway Clipper Fleet Steelers shuttles will be fully operational.

The Mon Wharf lot with 700 spaces ($5) is now re-opened for the remainder of the season. Beginning today and continuing for the remainder of the season, the Gateway Clipper Fleet Steelers shuttles will be operating from the Mon Wharf ($4 one way).

Additional parking is available for $5 at the Convention Center Garage and in the Strip District. The Gateway Clipper Fleet Steelers shuttles will be operating from the Convention Center dock for a cost of $4 one way as well as to and from Station Square, where approximately 3,000 parking spaces are available.

Other convenient parking areas include the First Side Garage, where fans can board the "T" at the First Avenue Station and ride free to and from the Gateway Center Station; along Stanwix Street (at the Blatner-Brunner Building) and the PPG Building; and at Parking Authority Garages. Parking is $5 at all these lots.

Travel & access

The Port Authority will route most buses destined for Heinz Field and after the game via the Clemente Bridge, providing convenient shuttle service ($1.25 one way).

From Downtown parking, fans can access Heinz Field via sidewalks on the Clemente Bridge and the Fort Duquesne Bridge.

North Shore Drive will be limited to incoming traffic prior to the game. Art Rooney Avenue, which is located along Heinz Field's east side, is closed to vehicular traffic on game day. Additionally, General Robinson Street, which runs east to west on the east side of the stadium between Lots G1 and G2, is one-way into Lot 1 and 1A (westbound) before the game and one way out (eastbound) after the game.

All three lanes of the West End Bridge will be open for only southbound traffic exiting the game. Fans exiting east to I-376 should use the left lane (third lane from the right). Fans exiting South to I-279 and Routes 51 and 19 should use the right lanes.

Also following the game, Allegheny Avenue will operate northbound only-from Reedsdale Street to Ridge Avenue. The right lane exits to the Fort Duquesne Bridge only. Also, the right lane of General Robinson Street eastbound -- from Mazeroski Way to Federal Street -- is for buses only.
