Thousands of people converged in Oakland for yesterday's grand re-opening of the renovated main branch of the Carnegie Library.

The events there were part of the "10 RADical Days" series commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Allegheny Regional Asset District, which provides funding for many organizations, including the library.

The $4.1 million renovation, done by Friendship-based EDGE studio, includes a new cafe and an indoor/outdoor reading room. There is also a new system of signs to make it easier for patrons to find books, recordings, movies and magazines.
