Boys' soccer powerhouses Thomas Jefferson and Moon have played five close games in the past two years.
Moon emerged victorious in the past four meetings, which included the WPIAL Class AA championship game last year.
But the No. 1 Tigers came up short against visiting Thomas Jefferson in a Section 3 game last night.
The fifth-ranked Jaguars (8-4-1, 5-2) edged Moon (8-2, 6-1) in overtime, 3-2, to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Tigers earlier in the season.
Ryan Browne scored the winning goal for the Jaguars with 6:24 left in the first 10-minute overtime period.

Trinity Christian 4, East Allegheny 3: The No. 3 Falcons (9-1, 6-1) escaped with an overtime victory against the Wildcats (5-5, 4-3) in Class A Section 2. Luke Zappa scored two goals for Trinity Christian. Josh Lloyd scored twice for East Allegheny. Zappa scored the winning goal with one minute left in overtime.
Mt. Lebanon 1, West Mifflin 0: Aaron Kolko's goal with 7:58 left in the first overtime period helped the Blue Devils (6-4-1, 5-2) win in Class AAA Section 4 at West Mifflin (5-5-1, 2-4-1).
West Shamokin 9, Aquinas Academy 6: West Shamokin (2-6, 2-4) outlasted Aquinas (0-7, 0-7) in Class A Section 2 despite Zach Mutschler's four goals. Tyler Altmeyer led West Shamokin with three goals.
Plum 5, Franklin Regional 1: The No. 4 Mustangs (9-1, 7-0) continue to lead Class AAA Section 3 after winning their ninth consecutive game. Pat McAfee scored twice for Plum.
Shady Side Academy 1, Riverview 1: The host Raiders (9-1-2, 5-1-1) and Indians (5-3-2, 5-1-1) remain tied for first place in Class A Section 2. Justin Choi scored for Shady Side; Matt Miller for Riverview. Riverview's Dave Blackwell, the top scorer in the WPIAL with 21 goals, did not play because of an ankle injury.
South Park 2, Elizabeth Forward 1: The No. 4 Eagles (8-3) edged the No. 6 Warriors (9-3-1) in a Class AA non-section game. Justin Boehm scored the winning goal with 20 minutes left.

Shaler 201, Pine-Richland 202: The Titans edged the Rams at Treesdale Country Club despite a 3-under 33 by Pine-Richland's Mike Van Sickle in a Division I, Section 3 contest.
Upper St. Clair 182, Peters Township 183: Robert Shogry's 2-under 32 sparked the Panthers' victory in Division I, Section 7 at St. Clair Country Club.
Boys' qualifiers
North Catholic junior Doug Stadler shot 5-under 67 to lead all competitors in the Division II, Section 3 qualifier for the WPIAL semifinals. The Section 3 tournament was played at Treesdale. Del LeViere of Avonworth finished second by carding a 68.
Beaver is sending four qualifiers to the WPIAL Division II semifinals after competition in Section 6 at Rolling Acres. Center's C.J. Crow claimed medalist honors, shooting a 1-over 73. Luke Baumgardner of Freedom was second with a 74. Beaver qualifiers were Zach Hundley (third place, 78), Steve Skopinski (fourth, 81), C.J. Severyn (eighth, 83) and John Atkinson (ninth, 84).
Girls' qualifier
Senior Melanie Ice of Riverside was the medalist in the Section 2 qualifier at the Black Hawk Golf Course. Ice qualified for the WPIAL finals, shooting 5-over 77. Junior Leah Ankiewicz of Quigley was the runner-up with an 81. Mars sophomore sisters Marissa Glew and Lauren Glew tied for third with rounds of 82.
