The top five concerns heading into Pitt's camp.
1. Can the offensive line block anybody? Last year, the offensive line was often overwhelmed. With three new starters, this group could be better, or, God forbid, worse.
2. Who will throw it? The Tyler Palko-Luke Getsy saga figures to rage until the week before the opener. And it still might not be completely over until several games into the season.
3. Can the defense rebound? Two years ago, the defense carried the team. Last year, the defense stunk, particularly against the run. With a simpler scheme, and more experience at linebacker, there is hope the unit will return to form.
Who will defend the pass? Cornerback is a major problem area. Josh Lay has to prove he is ready to reach his potential, and Mike Phillips has to show he can become the standout the coaching staff believes he can be.
4. Can anyone run the ball? Jawan Walker has all the potential but hasn't come close to fulfilling it because of poor work habits. Ray Kirkley was once a 1,000-yard rusher and is a hard worker, but he lacks speed and fell out of favor with coaches last year.
