A Shaler man used a Web camera to show nude images of his 4-year-old daughter online and then offered her for sex to a West Mifflin man who is under arrest for his role in another sex case involving a 2-year-old girl, according to the FBI.
The 35-year-old suspect was arrested Friday and will appear in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh tomorrow to face child pornography and exploitation charges.
He is the fourth local man with a connection to the case of a 35-year-old woman who is under indictment in Williamsport, Lycoming County, for selling her 2-year-old online for sex to men from as far away as Texas.
The latest suspect was not directly involved with that case, but his arrest was a result of the investigation.
According to an FBI affidavit, federal agents searched the West Mifflin home of Wyndell R. Williams in April. Williams, 44, is a part-time Pittsburgh-area sports writer who they said had been corresponding with the woman and testified for her at her detention hearing the month before.
In May, a federal grand jury in Williamsport charged him with lying on the stand about knowing the woman in an unsuccessful effort to get her released on bond. Williams said he had known her for years when the FBI said he had known her for only a few months through the Internet.
During their search of Williams' house, agents seized his computer and found 2,000 chats, some of them about child pornography and molestation, according to the affidavit.
One of them was an April 10 conversation in which Williams and the Shaler suspect discussed molesting children and the suspect showed Williams nude pictures of his 4-year-old daughter.
When Williams asked how young the other man likes girls, he answered, "10, 14. Wish mine was that age now." He said he had molested a 13-year-old girl from Bellevue four times.
The two discussed the suspect's little girl, according to a transcript, and the suspect then offered her to Williams for sex in exchange for money.
In his affidavit, FBI Agent Eric Fiterman said the suspect, who has a newborn son in addition to his daughter, admitted to agents that he traded child pornography.
"He also admitted," said Fiterman, "that he brought his [then] 3-year-old daughter into a room, gave her Hershey's Kisses, removed her pants, showing her front, and put her on the Web cam."
The suspect's name is being withheld to avoid identifying his daughter. The Post-Gazette does not identify accusers or victims in sex abuse cases.
The arrest brings to five the number of Pennsylvania men charged in some connection with the case.
Bernie Sherry of Bethel Park and Roderick Long of Ross were both customers who arranged with the woman to travel to Reading to molest her 2-year-old, according to the FBI. Both were initially released by federal magistrates but later jailed pending trial.
Another man, Richard D. King Jr., 42, of Mohnton, near Reading, was arrested with the woman in November and charged with transporting the girl from Buffalo, N.Y., to Reading for sex. He and the woman are being held without bond.
The girl, now 3, is in foster care.
Williams has not been charged with child pornography offenses, but agents are continuing to examine his computer.
