Tuesday, July 20, 2004

WILLIAMSBURG, Pa. -- A gospel singer had more than 150 pictures of nude boys on a computer to which he had access, police said.

Sammy Lee Lykens, 48, of Williamsburg, has been charged with sexual abuse of children and criminal use of a communications facility. He was being held at the Blair County Prison yesterday after failing to post $30,000 bail.

According to state police, a woman with whom Lykens had been staying contacted police in January after she allegedly overheard Lykens tell a 14-year-old Philadelphia boy that he wanted to perform a sex act on him.

Lykens is a singer, songwriter and piano player who performs Southern gospel music. His song, "I'll Trust Him," was recorded by national recording artists, The Hoppers.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for tomorrow.
