Finite foie gras

The big Burrito Restaurant Group has joined the Carlton Restaurant in removing from its menus foie gras, the liver of a duck or goose that has been force-fed and is considered a luxurious delicacy in the epicurean world. Voices for Animal Liberation has been actively demonstrating against local restaurants that serve foie gras. The organization considers foie gras to be "the end result of extreme cruelty to thinking, feeding animals for mere palate preference." Among the big Burrito establishments, only Eleven and Casbah featured dishes containing foie gras.

New Log House

McConnellsburg, Fulton County in south-central Pennsylvania, has a new food-related venue in what once was a hardware store. The Log House Coffee House serves top-quality coffee drinks as well as lunch and homemade desserts. Located near Cowans Gap State Park, Meadow Grounds Lake and Whitetail Mountain Resort, The Log House also features family activities, including book readings for kids, board game challenges and local musical talent.

Back It up

Correction: Last week's restaurant review neglected to mention The Side Door, a full bar that is in the basement of the Back Porch Restaurant and is accessed via a separate door. The Side Door is a smoking environment.
