Three health and human service agencies have been awarded $25,000 grants from United Way of Allegheny County's Managing for Excellence Initiative. The program helps nonprofits develop strategies to improve accountability and management effectiveness. Receiving grants were the Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, United Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh, both United Way partner agencies, and North Hills Community Outreach.
The Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force, committed to preventing the spread of HIV and helping people living with HIV/AIDS, will use the money to create a marketing plan and materials.
United Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh, which helps severely disabled people achieve self-sufficiency, will upgrade its computer system. North Hills Community Outreach, an interfaith organization to aid people in crisis, will implement a marketing program. .
The initiative is a collaboration between the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management at Robert Morris University and United Way of Allegheny County, with support from the Heinz Endowments and the Burke Family Foundation.
