The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh announced its executive board for the 2004-05 season. Chairman: Ronald J. Shepard, major gift officer, Carnegie Mellon University; vice president/treasurer: Andrew D. Sussman, Buchanan Ingersoll; secretary: Cordelia Jacobs. New board member for a three-year term is Ellen M. Sheppard, director of donor relations, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Associations/Organizations

Funeral Consumers Alliance of Western Pennsylvania (formerly Pittsburgh Memorial Society) elected officers: Joe Falgione, president; Miriam Bisdee, vice president; Frank Ashbaugh, secretary; and Bob Osborn, treasurer. June Anderson was elected to a three-year term as trustee and Tris B. Ozark was named office manager.

Pittsburgh Social Venture Partners elected its 2004 board: John Kuntz, chair; Jeanette Thomas, vice chair; John Brown, treasurer; and Susan Kaminski, secretary. David D'Appolonia and Robert Lang were elected committee representatives.

Rhoda Shear Neft has been elected to serve as co-chairman of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Commission on Women in the Profession.

Awards/Honors

Susan M. Brimo-Cox, principal/owner of Brimo-Cox Communications L.L.C., received nine awards in the 2004 Communications Contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania Press Club.

Tammy Hughes, an assistant professor of school psychology in the School of Education, received a Creative Teaching Award at Duquesne University. Hughes was selected for her innovation in creating an improved way for school psychologists to write their reports and evaluations.

Contracts

The COMM Group, recently acquired by ISR Solutions, has been awarded an $850,000 contract at the University of Pittsburgh's Bio Medical Science Tower III to provide and install structured cabling and a new fire alarm system.

Mascaro received three contract awards, including a PennDOT contract to construct the Hickory Street Bridge replacement structure in Warren, Warren County; a PennDOT contract as subcontractor to Avalotis Painting Co. for the repainting of the Fort Duquesne Bridge; an Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, contract for design and construction in support of the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division Mission. Mascaro teamed with Baker and Associates, Coraopolis.

Dividends

NSD Bancorp Inc. declared a quarterly cash dividend of 22 cents per common share, payable June 30 to shareholders of record June 16.

North Pittsburgh Systems Inc. declared a quarterly common stock dividend of 18 cents per share, payable July 15 to shareholders of record July 1.
