Annie's brother, Ian, was just born, and while her mother was pregnant, Annie was a big help.

"When Mom was really, really pregnant, I was one of the chefs. She would lie on the couch and explain things and I would just follow directions. And then we would all eat."

ANNIE'S EGG NOG

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 eggs (see note)
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend. Variations include:

1) If you want more of a frozen drink, also put in a whole tray of ice cubes.

2) Interesting flavor combinations include replacing the vanilla with almond extract, or adding 1 teaspoon grated orange peel to the above-listed ingredients.

3) For a yummy fruit milkshake, replace the eggs with 3 chopped bananas, a pint of your favorite berries, or 2 large de-stoned peaches.

Note: We used pasteurized eggs.
