Indiana Man sentenced for firing gun at teens
Tuesday, April 06, 2004

A man was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in jail after pleading guilty to charges that he chased a car carrying four teenagers while firing a handgun from his truck window, injuring a pregnant girl.

But Thomas Mock Jr., 44, of Burrell, won't spend any more time behind bars, since he got credit for the year and a half he spent in jail awaiting trial. Mock pleaded guilty but mentally ill last week to aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

Police said Mock chased the car, shooting a revolver, for about four miles on state Route 119 in Indiana County on June 6, 2002. One of the bullets hit a 16-year-old pregnant girl in the head. She walked away after the car stopped and the bullet was removed from her skull a month later.

While sentencing Mock, Indiana County Common Pleas Judge William Martin said the defendant was delusional because he had been taking antidepressants and other medications.
