Pitt endowment established by Squirrel Hill woman
Saturday, April 03, 2004

A Squirrel Hill woman has established an educational endowment for pain medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine to help others who suffer debilitating pain.

Andrea Katz McCutcheon's gift of $10,000 a year for five years will support the training of a new generation of pain physicians, said Dr. Doris Cope, director of the pain program, and will enable library acquisitions, lectureships and other activities.

The program trains six pain medicine fellows a year and many foreign observers visit to upgrade care in their own countries, she said.

McCutcheon said the extreme pain she suffered for years has made her aware of the value of well-trained pain physicians.
