Authorities in Westmoreland County yesterday filed 61 charges of cruelty to animals against a Unity woman who was running a kennel on her property.

Authorities said they removed 59 dogs and 24 cats that were being kept in unsanitary conditions. Humane officers said they also removed four turtles, two goats and a duck. Many of the animals needed veterinary care.
