Blackhawk's eight-game losing streak earlier this season is a distant memory as the Cougars extended another streak.
Blackhawk's 47-43 victory against Ambridge (7-17, 4-10) last night assured coach John Miller's program of its 21st consecutive WPIAL playoff appearance.
Blackhawk (10-13, 9-5) won for the seventh time in nine games to finish in third place in Class AAA Section 2.
John Navage led Blackhawk with 18 points and Justin Nardi added 10. Matt Franitti chipped in with nine points and 11 rebounds.
Blackhawk led, 33-22, at halftime.

Sto-Rox (19-2), ranked No. 1 in Class AA by the Post-Gazette, claimed a 62-49 victory at Class A No. 2 Cornell (20-2). John Geiger led the Vikings with 17 points. Cornell led, 31-26, at halftime but Sto-Rox went on a 19-8 run in the third quarter.
Aliquippa was a 69-21 winner at home against Center (9-12, 5-7) in Class AA Section 6. The victory gave the Quips (18-3, 11-1) at least a share of the section title, the 40th in school history. Darrelle Revis led Aliquippa with 24 points.
Class AAA Section 3 champion Uniontown (18-4, 12-1) routed Belle Vernon (6-16, 3-10), 87-51. Junior Mays, one of the top scorers in the WPIAL, finished with 31 points for the Raiders. Matt Rowland of Belle Vernon was held to 12 points, 14 below his average.
Burgettstown (11-9, 4-5) clinched a playoff berth in Class AA Section 5 with an 80-66 overtime victory at Bentworth (6-16, 0-10). Christian Goetz led the Blue Devils with 36 points. The score was 62-62 at the end of regulation.

Mohawk's Shawn Carr was held to 21 points in a 51-49 home loss by Neshannock in Class AA Section 2. Carr's average dropped to 27.5 points per game, 0.1 behind WPIAL leader James Hairston of Connellsville.

Montour lost for the third time in four games as the Spartans (18-4, 8-4) dropped a 56-47 decision at Chartiers Valley (16-6, 8-4) in Class AAAA Section 5. Montour finished tied for second place. Lauren Revesz led the Colts with 19 points.
Butler (13-8, 8-4) clinched a playoff berth by winning, 44-41, at New Castle (20-4, 8-4) in Class AAAA Section 3. Amy Achesinski led Butler with 14 points.
Laurel Highlands (14-8, 10-4) was a 64-53 winner against visiting Albert Gallatin (3-20, 3-11) to clinch at least a share of the title in Class AAAA Section 2. Kayla Ashton led the Mustangs with 21 points, making four 3-pointers in the third quarter.
Trinity (16-7, 10-4) claimed its first section championship in 18 years after defeating Canon-McMillan, 66-47, in Class AAAA Section 2. Lindsey Whipkey led Trinity with 19 points. Trinity finished tied with Laurel Highlands for first place.
