Recycling your Christmas tree
Sunday, December 28, 2003

The Pennsylvania Resources Council, the oldest nonprofit environmental group in the state, and Construction Junction, Western Pennsylvania's only nonprofit retail store for used and surplus building materials, will collect Christmas trees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 24, at the store, 214 N. Lexington Street, Point Breeze.

Anyone dropping off a Christmas tree is eligible to receive 15 percent off the purchase of any item in Construction Junction.

There's no charge to the public, but only trees that are loose or tied with string will be accepted. All trees will be recycled into mulch and used in Pittsburgh's parks and other city projects. Individuals can volunteer to help unload cars by calling Ginette Walker at 412-431-4449, Ext. 243.
