Dogs! Barkery the national franchise of Just Dogs! Barkery Inc., opened its newest franchise store (custom built kiosk) in the Monroeville Mall.
John P. Abriola, founder and principal of Select Financial Group LLC, and Wayne Russo, president of Pittsburgh Financial Consultants, have formed Pension Investment Advisors LLC to plan and manage 401(k) and other pension plans for small to midsize businesses. In announcing the formation of the company, both executives indicated that it would be "business as usual" at Select Financial and Pittsburgh Financial.
Bose, a maker of quality engineered sound systems, opened a store at Pittsburgh International Airport's Airmall. Located in the core of the airside terminal, the new 160-square-foot Bose outlet, open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, will specialize in products catering to air travelers.
Contracts
CarneyFireman was awarded a contract to redesign the Seven Springs Mountain Resort Web site. The new site will be launched in November, just in time for the coming winter season.
CommuniTech was selected to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing campaign for Curetteblade Inc., a Pittsburgh-based medical device company that has invented a disposable surgical curette blade for use in a wide range of dermatological and other surgical procedures. The campaign will involve a variety of services, including regional and national marketing initiatives, the development of corporate collateral, Web site design, and related projects. Orin Goldblum, M.D., a practicing dermatologist, is the developer of the new single-use curette blade.
Synergy Real Estate Corp. in cooperation with Deloitte & Touche Fantus have teamed up to provide the city of Colorado Springs and Colorado Springs Airport with real estate and economic development services for the creation and implementation of a 427-acre business park.

Olson Industries received an order from Anyang Iron & Steel Co. in mainland China for two Steckel Mill Coiling Furnaces. The scope of the project includes the complete design and supply of certain equipment as well as supervisory and commissioning services. The project is scheduled for installation in June.

Groundbreaking
Alstom Transmission & Distribution (T&D) High Voltage Switchgear Manufacturing Plant, One Alstom Way, Charleroi, held a grand opening ceremony Oct. 21. Alstom T&D has doubled the size of its factory in order to respond to increasing demand of high voltage switchgear equipment in the United States. The expansion will allow for manufacture of new equipment (345kV and 550kV dead tank circuit breakers).
Dividends
Laurel Capital Group Inc. declared a cash dividend of 20 cents per share on its common stock, payable Nov. 14 to stockholders of record Oct. 31.
