ART

Butler -- Associated Artists of Butler County features Kids ART Events from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St. Now through Dec. 4, ages 6-13 can enter a Steelers coloring contest. Prizes will be awarded Dec. 5 during the Holiday Show & Sale opening. CLASSES

CONTESTS

Marshall -- The township is accepting entries for its Snow Creations contest. Create a snow sculpture and send a photo with your name, address, phone number and the date, by Feb. 23, to: Heather Jerry, Marshall Township, Box 2094, Warrendale, PA 15086. CRAFT SHOWS

McCandless -- As part of the Festival of Lights celebration at La Roche College, the annual Theta Mu Craft Show returns from 3 to 9 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Zappala College Center, 9100 Babcock Blvd. Free admission. Proceeds benefit the nursing scholarship fund. Visit www.laroche.edu.

EDUCATION

FUNDRAISERS

Cranberry -- Freedom Square Diner, on the corner of Freedom and Haine School roads, will host a Christmas Giving Dinner from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and next Wednesday. The diner will serve a special dinner menu. Proceeds will be donated to Gleaner's Food Bank in Cranberry.

Evans City -- St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St, will hold a Christmas program 9 Lessons in Carols at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 and 2 p.m. Dec. 7. Refreshments will be served after the program. There is no charge for tickets, but reservations are requested. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the Evans City Food Cupboard. Call 724-538-8124.

Pine -- The Pine-Richland High School Class of 2011 will be selling Christmas trees from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6 and from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 13 in the Pine-Richland High School Stadium parking lot, 704 Warrendale Road. All proceeds will benefit the Junior/Senior Prom. The students will be pre-selling trees until Dec. 4. HOLIDAY CONCERTS

Areawide -- The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale will perform Carols Around the World, featuring traditional holiday favorites with some sung in different languages, at 8 p.m. Dec. 5 and 4 p.m. Dec. 7 at Ingomar United Methodist Church, 1501 W. HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS

Hampton -- The township will hold its Light Up event beginning at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road. Santa and Rudolph will arrive on fire trucks; free pictures with Santa and free refreshments. Call 412-487-7870.

Mars -- Discovery Mothers of Preschoolers will host a Pajama Party with Santa at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Adams Ridge Clubhouse, 100 Adams Ridge Blvd. Children can dress in their favorite pajamas, visit with Santa, decorate a cookie to eat, enjoy refreshments and create a Christmas pillowcase. McCandless -- The annual Festival of Lights begins at 4 p.m. Dec. 5 on the campuses of UPMC Passavant, La Roche College and the Sisters of Divine Providence, all on Babcock Boulevard. The program includes fireworks, entertainment, a parade, crafts, ice sculptors and more. Tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Zappala College Center Square. Admission and parking are free. West Deer -- The Pine-Richland Middle School Leaders' Club will hold its annual Senior Citizens Holiday Dinner Dec. 4. Doors will open at 3:45 p.m., and dinner begins at 4 p.m. at Pine-Richland Middle School cafeteria, 100 Logan Road. Menu will consist of a turkey dinner, dessert and coffee and/or hot tea for a cost of $5. SPECIAL INTEREST

Evans City -- The Frontier Living History Center at Providence Plantation Foundation, 300 Textor Hill Road, will present the program, Christmas Comes to the Upper Ohio Valley, from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6. Richland -- Heartland Hospice and Northern Tier Library will hold an event for grieving families with children ages 5 through 12 Monday at the library, 4015 Dickey Road. TUTORING

Cranberry -- Free private tutoring is offered as a community service by Oak Hill Alliance Church, 2782 Rochester Road. Children's educational and spiritual needs are addressed using materials that reflect Christian values. Children meet one-on-one with the same tutor each week. Tutors assist students with school work and strengthen basic reading, math and study skills. Because of the personal attention that each child receives, space is limited. Call 724-776-4350.
