McCandless -- The Sisters of Divine Providence will be host to the third annual Busy Women Cultivating Inner Peace Breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. Feb. 21 at Kearns Spirituality Center, 9000 Babcock Blvd. Anne Kertz Kernion, owner of Cards by Anne, will present "Happiness and the Spiritual Journey." Richland -- First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, 5825 Heckert Road, will hold Ash Wednesday service at 7:30 p.m. Feb.22. The service will feature Pastors Dan Muttart and Karen Anderson, the Praise Band, Chancel Choir, and a solo by Mia Tepper.
• The church also will be host to lenten dinners and classes Feb. 29 and March 7, 14, 21 and 28. Dinners are at 6 p.m. and classes at 7 p.m. The classes for adults and youth: "Historical And Modern Disciples Of Christ." Classes for children, K- 5: "Carnegie Science Center's Science on the Road" with five weeks of high-energy hands-on activities. Childcare will be available for infants to age 4 during classes. Shaler -- Epworth United Methodist Church, 1300 Burchfield Road, will hold a Shrove Tuesday sausage and pancake dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 21. Eat in or take out; donations will be accepted.

Kilbuck -- Hair Peace Charities will be host to its annual Recipe for Hope fundraiser at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mayernik Center on Camp Horne Road. Culinary delights prepared by local celebrities, a "pink-tini" bar, live music and a silent auction will be part of the event. McCandless -- Northland Library, in cooperation with AARP, is offering free tax preparation assistance for senior citizens and low-income residents from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 12. IRS-trained volunteers will help prepare both federal and state forms. This service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please remember to bring all necessary paperwork. A signup sheet will be located outside the lower library entrance so early arrivals can register. The library is at 300 Cumberland Road. Information: 412-366-8100.
• The library's annual chess tournament, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb.25. Register at the Children's Desk; deadline is Feb. 22. The tournament is open to kindergarteners through 8th-graders who live in Allegheny County. Two age divisions: K through grade 4, grades 5 through 8. First, Second and third place trophies will be awarded in each division. Chess sets and boards will be provided. First place winners will advance to the county-wide tournament in March. Butler -- Lifesteps' Alzheimer's caregiver support group will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Geriatrics Department of Lifesteps' Center, 383 New Castle Road. • Lifesteps, also will offer a seminar, Families Forever, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Lifesteps, Inc., 300 Stirling Village, Route 68.
