Penguins center Joe Vitale is such a fan of his hometown St. Louis Cardinals and riding such a high after their win against the Pirates in the National League Divisional Series that he's pronoun-afflicted.
As in, he uses "us" and "we."
"We're going all the way this year," the beaming Vitale said of the Cardinals.
Vitale watched St. Louis' Game 5 clincher, a 6-1 win, from bed Wednesday night -- "I couldn't sleep until it was over," he said -- and is ready to turn his attention to the Cardinals-Los Angeles Dodgers matchup in the NL Championship Series.
"I think we've got our hands full," he said. "We had our hands full with the Bucs. It took a lot of steam out of us. I think it's going to be a great series. I think it's going to go seven. I think the Dodgers are a dangerous team, but I'm pulling for my Cards again."
Vitale made a point to give a shout out to the Pirates.
"It was a great series," he said.
"I was pulling for my hometown Cardinals, but I have all the respect for Pittsburgh as well. They're my second team. They had a great year. I'm really proud of them. They did the city great.
"I think moving forward they have a great ballclub to do something great next year."
