Penguins beat Blackhawks, 3-2, in shootout

James Neal and Sidney Crosby scored during a shootout to give the Penguins a 3-2 victory over Chicago in a preseason game at Consol Energy Center tonight.

The Penguins, 2-2-1 in exhibition play, will wrap up their six-game preseason schedule in Detroit Wednesday.

Bryan Bickell put Chicago in front, 1-0, with a shorthanded goal at 1:09 of the second period, as he knocked a puck out of the air and past goalie Jeff Zatkoff.

Bickell struck again at 14:00, as he deflected in Jeremy Morin's slap shot from the left point during a man-advantage.

Morin's goal was the Blackhawks' first on the power play in 22 tries during this preseason.

Kris Letang got the Penguins to within one at 9:23 of the third period, as he picked off a pass before breaking in on Chicago goalie Nikolai Khabibulin and beating him with a backhander.

Letang then forced overtime by driving a shot over Khabibulin's glove during a power play at 17:44.
