The Penguins will face Washington in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Game 1 will be Saturday at 1:08 p.m. at the Verizon Center, with Game 2 there Monday.

The series will shift to Mellon Arena for Game 3 May 6 and Game 4 May 8, then return to Washington for Game 5, if necessary, the next day.

Game 6 would be played May 11 at Mellon Arena, with Game 7 in Washington May 13.

Games 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 will begin at 7:08 p.m. The starting time for Game 6 has not been set.

The Capitals won the season series, 3-1, but the Penguins have won six of seven previous playoff meetings with Washington.

The Penguins-Capitals matchup came about because Washington beat the New York Rangers, 2-1, and Carolina scored twice in the final 80 seconds of regulation to defeat New Jersey, 4-3, in the seventh games of their respective opening-round series Tuesday night.

The Hurricanes will face Boston in the Eastern' Conference's other second-round series.
