Defenseman Kris Letang, who began the season with the Penguins before being returned to his junior team, Val d'Or, has been assigned to the organization's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton minor-league club.
Letang, a third-round draft pick in 2005, had 52 points in 40 games with Val d'Or, which was swept by Lewiston in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final.
Letang's stay with Wilkes-Barre could be short. The Baby Penguins trail Hershey, three games to one, in the East Division final of the American Hockey League playoffs. Game Five is tonight in Hershey.
