Tuesday, February 27, 2001

Compiled by Dejan Kovacevic

This week's prospect: Goaltender, Sebastien Caron.

Position: Goaltender

Size: 6 feet 1, 160 pounds

Born: June 25, 1980; Amqui, Quebec

Acquired: Penguins' third choice, 86th overall, in 1999 NHL Entry Draft

2000-01 club: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, AHL

Statistics: In 26 games, 12-10-3 record, 3.21 goals-against average, .895 save percentage

Scouting: Outstanding quickness in his legwork but still needs to improve on stopping high shots. ... Dressed for Penguins' first two games after strong training camp, then was sent to Wilkes-Barre after signing of veteran Garth Snow. ... In final season of junior hockey with Rimouski of Quebec League, went 38-11-3 and won Memorial Cup as Canadian champions. Had 1.79 goals-against average. ... Might need to put few more pounds on his wiry frame. ... Probably will need another season of fine-tuning at AHL level before having chance to stick with Penguins. ... Catches left-handed.
