Acquired: Penguins' second-round choice, 54th overall, 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
2000-01 club: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
AHL Statistics: In 46 games, 10 goals, five assists, even plus-minus rating, six penalty minutes.
Scouting report: Has never put up big numbers but uses tank-like build to punish opponents. As he told reporters in Wilkes-Barre recently, "I like to score goals and play physical." ... In three seasons, 1997-2000, with CSKA Moscow in Russian Elite League, had only nine goals and four assists in 67 games. ... Has overcome slow start this season in which he scored just three times in first 25 games. ... Coach Glenn Patrick said of his ability to reach the NHL, "It's just a matter of time." ... Attended Penguins training camp for first time in September. ... Left-handed shot. ... Has played center in his developmental career. ... Known in locker room for gregarious personality despite limited English.
