Rob Rogers' cartoon is a slap to all police

I was appalled by Rob Rogers’ Aug. 19 cartoon labeled “Miranda rights for blacks in America,” which depicts police officers as racist thugs. Really! I cannot believe that PG editors would allow such nonsense to be printed in the newspaper.

I’ve been a police officer for this city for more than 20 years, and that’s a slap in the face to all officers who serve and have served admirably. Furthermore, when the facts come out about this unfortunate shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, I believe the officer will be found to be justified in what he did.

Officers as well as civilians have the right to use deadly force to protect themselves from the threat of death or serious bodily injury even if the person attacking at them is unarmed according to the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Section 505 — Use of Force in Self-Protection.

PG, you should be ashamed.
