Pittsburgh can thank Sophie Masloff for great street signs

Imagine trying to drive from one location in Pittsburgh to another navigating with just a paper map (no GPS) and a very occasional street sign.

That was the situation when Sophie Masloff became mayor.

During Mrs. Masloff’s time in office, street signs — handsome blue signs with clean white lettering — began appearing at just about every street corner.

All hail to Sophie Masloff whose street sign initiative made Pittsburgh a more livable, more address-locatable city.
