Edgar Snyder's divorce case deserved privacy

I was very disappointed to see the extent of the Post-Gazette’s coverage of a private family matter (“Snyder Defamation Lawsuit Dropped,” July 30). The courts may be public institutions, but any divorce proceeding or related suits should be kept private.

With everything else going on in the world, how this private family matter made the front page and warranted an additional full-page article, with insight from a law professor in Texas, is beyond me. Yes, the Snyders are public figures in that they have been pioneers in the legal field and generous philanthropists within the community; however, the PG is perpetuating salacious gossip by making a private family matter front-page news.
