Your editorial about patriotism on July 4 thoughtfully suggested that patriots of all political persuasions should be able to find common ground in their love of country (“Fractious Fourth: Today’s Patriots Should Seek Reconciliation”).
Unfortunately, in the 21st century, there are Americans who do not love their country or its founding principles. No doubt there are some who are actually offended by overt patriotism.
Sometime before the end of the decade, we may expect them to try to make the New England Patriots change their name.
