UPMC, Highmark agreement an unhealthy deal

We waited how long for this shame of an agreement? (“UPMC-Highmark Enter Uneasy Truce,” June 28) The fact that it took about a week to glue it together tells you the little thought processes involved.

It is the same baloney that UPMC has offered from the get-go: none of the key Pittsburgh hospitals are in network and most likely our doctors who are associated with them. Our elected “representatives” stood at the news conference podium touting this as success!

Another nail in Gov. Tom Corbett’s coffin in the fall, and continued missteps from state Attorney General Kathleen Kane. The head jester in this farce, UPMC CEO Jeffrey Romoff, was nowhere to be seen. Why? He, the shameless, multimillionaire, “non-profit,” “no employee” CEO at least perhaps had the good sense to know he was peddling a bucket of you know what and, as usual, stayed out of sight. If this was not serious, it would be laughable and disgraceful.
