GOP is the war party

Regarding “GOP Presses Obama on Strategy” (June 16): It is clear that Sen. Lindsey Graham, Rep. Mike Rogers, Sen. John McCain and other notable Republican hawks will not quit beating the war drum.

The way it sounds to me, nothing short of re-invasion of Iraq followed by perpetual occupation by our troops would satisfy these hawks as strategy, proving that they are oblivious to the majority of Americans who are sick of war.

I’m for the president sending troops to protect our embassy, but that should be the military limit.

Surely there must be many Republican readers out there who know it is not worth one American life to try to settle the civil strife in Iraq, and that we cannot do anything for that country it is not willing to do for itself.

And do Republicans really want to be perceived as the party of war in an election year?
