In response to the article “Yellow Cab Drivers Stage Airport Protest” (June 10): I must defend Dawn Romitz, the contract administrator for the Allegheny County Airport Authority. She has a big job monitoring the cab drivers, limo drivers and hotel drivers who drop off customers at Pittsburgh International Airport.

As a fellow worker at the airport, I see both sides, where Yellow Cab drivers are quite courteous and treat customers very professionally.

On the other hand there are a handful of drivers who are disrespectful, unprofessional and unwilling to abide by airport policy.

There are skycaps available to help the elderly if the driver would drop the customers off at the proper drop-off area. Some drivers want to establish their own rules for serving customers, and as a result proper discipline is in order.

The rules are simple and clear cut — simply obeying them is all that is necessary.
