Never-ending Iraq

Iraq, the gift that keeps on giving. The truth be told, America’s foreign policy efforts in the Arab world for the last 50 years have been a failure. We’ve directly or indirectly caused much of the anti-Americanism and political turmoil we see today. The grand-daddy of them all was George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq. You remember all the talk of weapons of mass destruction, mushroom clouds, etc. And now, to nobody’s surprise, when things are unraveling, the very same people who got us in this mess are trotted out to again advocate for military action in Iraq.

Why do these people have any credibility with the press? Sen. John McCain has never seen a conflict he doesn’t want us in. Sen. Lindsey Graham parrots Mr. McCain. The neocons who were proven wrong repeatedly now are sought out for comment? Are we as a nation incapable of learning from our mistakes?
