A June 1 story pointed out how challenging it can be sometimes to find the right rental housing (“Housing Vouchers Lead to Limited Neighborhood Choices”). The good news is that a state-sponsored resource exists to make apartment hunting easier.
The website at www.PAHousingSearch.com lets users plug in the features they need and then searches an extensive database to bring back available units in their community. Proximity to public transportation, handicapped accessibility and Section 8 housing are among the variables that can be included in a search. Photographs of available units help pinpoint those liked best.
This service is free for renters, and it’s free for landlords who want to list vacant units. (As more landlords participate, it helps us address issues raised in the Post-Gazette article.)
A bilingual call center is available, too, to answer questions from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays at 877-428-8844. PAHousingSearch.com takes the hassle out of apartment hunting.
