So-called reform

I noticed that Donna Micheaux, Pittsburgh Public Schools’ new deputy superintendent, is a graduate of the Broad Superintendents Academy (“City Schools Hire Wilkinsburg Leader,” May 29). This unaccredited program, created by the Broad Foundation, teaches the management style of corporate reform.

Do we really want more school closures, more high-stakes testing, larger class sizes, more cuts to music, arts and library programs, and more charter schools for the children of Pittsburgh? If not, why does the district hire administrators who believe in this type of so-called reform?
