Aid for U.S. jobs

I would like to understand the reasoning of our leaders. We lose 177 jobs in McKeesport due to uncontrolled, illegal imports of steel piping (“McKeesport: Tube City Without Tubes,” June 4). Also on the Post-Gazette’s front page that day was the article “Obama Tries to Bolster Allies.” We spend $1 billion to help other countries. We seldom get an accurate accounting of how the money is used or what support we may gain as a result of this.

If this money is so readily available, we may benefit by using it to encourage American manufacturing and assist in restoring American strength and independence.
