School memories

I am responding to the April 16 letter by Arthur Marino (“Al Inspired Even Then”), expressing his heartfelt appreciation for the late Post-Gazette journalist Al Donalson. His letter of thanks for the positive effect Donalson had on him was quite special. After reading through this letter, I drifted back in time realizing that Arthur Marino was a high school classmate of mine. Needless to say, it was a real surprise for me, as I have not seen or heard from Arthur since high school commencement, Class of 1954 at Westinghouse High School.

Arthur was an excellent student and a real gentleman.

I am an avid reader and contributor to letters to the editor. I’m glad I had the opportunity to read the heart-warming letter that my classmate Arthur Marino wrote. If we meet again someday, Arthur, it would be a long overdue reunion. Thanks for refreshing the memories of our school days and the legendary Al Donalson.
