Charming pride

I recently visited Pittsburgh for the first time. With the hills and scenic views, fantastic food (I’m vegan), energetic Downtown, friendly neighborhood bars and great vibe, I felt right at home and loved every minute. But what I liked most was the people. It’s rare to find a place where people are so informed about and proud of their city.

I talked with a taxi driver about Pittsburgh’s industry and labor history, a restaurant worker about the revitalization of the North Side, and my seat mate on the plane spoke enthusiastically about topics ranging from the robotics industry to the Steelers (with a little extra zeal about the latter).

I experienced firsthand what I’ve always heard: that no one loves their city more than Pittsburghers. And they have good reason to.

It’s a great city, and I’ll be back.
