The hate is obvious

I want to thank Keli Goff, the special correspondent from The for her commentary “The KKK Fights Back” (April 25 Perspectives). Ms. Goff explained why racists aren’t happy about the de-whitening of America very well. The hate is so obvious if you know our history. The signs are very clear.

I have never seen so much hate in the 65 years that I have been living. Of course my generation knew our history. I grew up in a home where my dad was involved with politics and both parents were from the deep South. In the era of Martin Luther King, there were plenty of conversations about civil rights and our right to vote. I grew up paying attention to our presidents, and I have never seen a president like Barack Obama treated with so much hate, anger and disrespect. And how could anyone not love his wife? They seem to forget his mother was white, but that doesn’t matter.

What matters is his character and that he wants the best for all Americans in the United States (the melting pot). Is it “the fear of the black man”? I agree with Ms. Goff that racists aren’t happy about the de-whitening of America.
