More postal woes

We haven’t had a regular postal carrier for more than five years, since our really great guy died suddenly. There are many times we don’t get mail, especially Wednesday and Saturday. And when we do get it, it can come as early as 8 a.m. or as late as 8 p.m.!

I have seen a carrier go down the street past a house if he felt the sidewalk or driveway had not been recently cleaned, even if it hadn’t stopped snowing in the morning. One even left a nasty note in a mailbox of a senior citizen telling her to clean the driveway. Don’t we have 24 hours after it stops snowing to clean sidewalks and driveways? Yet this same person would pick his way across the yard and down a steeply sloped snow-covered rock garden between houses because the cleaned driveway was the long way around.

Also I have gone to our post office for the 9 a.m. opening only to have to stand outside till 9:20 a.m. before the doors were opened, and then had to wait in line till the workers finished talking about the game last night before they came to the counter to wait on us.

It’s about time postal increases stopped and the workers started to do their jobs and earn their pay!
