Regarding Brian O’Neill’s April 10 column (“Here’s One Way of Grading Value of College”): The State University of New York’s Maritime College in the Bronx has consistently done very well in the report of return on investment. This is exactly why my son left Penn State University (Main) after three semesters. I should mention, he loved Penn State, but he heard about this school and its ROI. The ROI at SUNY is better than most Ivy League schools.
Too bad it wasn’t mentioned in the column. We need more folks like these guys and gals to do what they will be capable of doing for what an education costs at Maritime.
I’m so proud of his choice. He has already been to more countries than any study abroad could offer and done things most people don’t even think about. He has crossed the Atlantic by sea, jumped off the cliffs of Malta into the Blue Lagoon, toured the Jameson whiskey distillery, swum in Slovenia, woken up to seeing the Rock of Gibraltar and Africa and sailed past the Statue of Liberty.
