The Fox show “The Following” on Mondays, 9 p.m., depicts a serial killer (Joe Carroll) who leads a cult of young people. In recent episodes, three members entered a bookstore and used knives to slash several innocent victims. In another episode, two members entered a Starbucks-like store and slashed the patrons and the workers in another random attack of several innocent people. The attackers received high praise from the serial killer and the cult members on their return.

The descriptions of the Pittsburgh-area single attack on random students immediately reminded me of those recent television shows.
