Unionize college football players? They’ve got to be kidding (“College Athletes Hit Milestone in Campaign to Form a Union,” March 27). The players have a choice to play or not play. And if they don’t want to play, there are kids waiting in line to take their place.

I do think they should get a stipend to help them with costs of incidentals and some entertainment though, since they don’t have the time to earn any money like other students.

Football profits at colleges pay for most of the other sports that don’t bring in money. The other sports are costly — paying coaches, uniforms and equipment, and for travel etc.
