Can’t call for Lyft

We have been trying to find out how to use as riders the new Lyft ride-sharing service (“New Taxi Service Set to Go,” Feb. 7). The situation appears to be quite discouraging.

Among other problems, you cannot access the system via a telephone, so there is no physical person who can answer questions for you. Also, it seems as if, in order to use the service, you must download and then use an app on a smartphone. What about older people and others who don’t have, can’t afford or can’t easily use a smartphone? Thus, Lyft is discriminating against a group of people who most need the service.

Whatever problems there are with the regular taxi services — and there are very many — at least they have phone numbers that you can call!
