Good guys’ guns

Good to hear that Allegheny County had a dramatic increase in the issuance of concealed-carry gun permits last year vs. 2012 (“Concealed Guns Multiply: Allegheny County Sheriff Says ’13 Set Record for Permits,” Feb. 5). Now we have more armed good guys on the street.

Maybe if one of them encounters a compromising situation he or she can contain it until police arrive. Maybe these people will help to prevent an injury or even save a life. As the National Rifle Association has said many times, “It takes a good guy with a gun to control a bad guy with a gun.” No amount of legislation will ever keep guns out of the hands of criminals.
