Regarding “Marx Is Back” (Feb. 2 Forum): The article never mentions one of Karl Marx’s most quoted or misquoted lines, “It is the opium of the people.” The “it,” according to Marx, is religion.

Should he be writing today, I think he would substitute sports in place of religion, or if he were putting it to pen during the time of the Roman Empire, the circuses.
