Debacle’s history?

OK, PG, during these dark, cold days, I feel like some good, riveting reading. How about an article or series of articles on just how UPMC was able to go from being a health care provider to being able to also be a health care insurer? I am interested in the juicy behind-the-scenes issues. Who were the people behind this move? Who were the legislators who allowed this to happen? Dates and names of all parties concerned will all be appreciated. Come on, PG, you can do it!

And, no, it won’t at all change the debacle of the health care industry in which we now find ourselves here in Pittsburgh, nor will it change this out-of-control behemoth called UPMC that we are currently dealing with, but it will make quite interesting reading on a cold winter’s night.
