Construction sense

This letter is directed to all the home builders in our area. As everyone knows, there is an ever-increasing number of senior citizens and many young people who would like to buy homes from seniors. Most homes are two stories with basements, but seniors have problems with steps.

Instead of building all these townhouses (which we used to call “party walls”), why not build what seniors would buy and young people would be able to purchase as their family-size homes from the seniors?

A community with sidewalks, front porches and no basements that is also close to churches and shopping is what seniors need at affordable prices. This would keep seniors more active and involved with their neighbors.

Many townhouses have yet to be sold. Why not take a different approach to building? Even the high-rise apartments don’t work because people stay within the walls of the apartment. Make homes that are more appealing and create activities for our seniors.
