Benedict’s steps

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI has put the Roman Catholic Church onto a path of religious justice. Substantially increasing the number of defrockings of priests for sexual abuse involving children is a much needed step in strengthening the church (“Benedict Ousted 400 Over Two Years for Abuse,” Jan. 18). With the numbers of ousted priests for such offenses nearly tripling in just a few years, it is indicative of the church’s stance.

And Catholics around the world can only be confident that Pope Francis will continue to carry on the work of the previous pontiff. Pope Francis’ love of children is quite evident. We, as Catholics, should have full confidence in Pope Francis’ charge to rid the church of pedophiles.
