Not budget sanity

Congressional Republicans led by Paul Ryan essentially caved and reached an agreement with Democrats on a budget framework. According to the Congressional Budget Office, this budget will result in a deficit of $675 billion in fiscal 2014, up from the 2013 deficit of $669 billion.

Meanwhile, the interest payment of $27 billion on our debt to China is equal to one-fourth of China’s defense budget ($107 billion) and grows every year. In eight or 10 years American taxpayers will be paying not only for our defense but that of China as well. And the PG has the temerity to call this “Sanity Returns” (Jan. 20 editorial).
