Please, do not call!

It seems to me that adding my telephone and cell phone numbers to the Federal Trade Commission’s “National Do Not Call Registry” has caused me to receive more calls!

These are not the permitted callers as designated in the “Do Not Call” rules such as “political organizations, telephone surveyors, some insurance situations and organizations with which you have a relationship.” I cannot understand why the “permitted callers” list is just that — permitted.

I have been getting calls from companies that want to extend my car warranty and people suggesting that I need new windows. They call with offers to buy into an adult living situation, lawn care and many other things. The automated calls are really an annoying infringement of my privacy! I feel that by including my contact numbers on the registry, companies are somehow getting access to my information, instead of “Do Not Call” protecting my desire to be excluded from nonsense calls.

I have also been diligent about re-registering from time to time. Perhaps that is a bad idea.
