Fouling up nature

I am in complete agreement with Melanie J. Blaser’s letter about culling the herd of deer (“Sad Reality: We Must Cull the Herd,” Jan. 7), and I want to add to it. The reason that deer have become such a problem is that we humans have killed off most of the animals, especially wolves, that prey upon deer.

We are dismayed that the deer have become pests, invading our space and ruining such areas as the Trillium Trail in Fox Chapel, when we are the original culprits!

This is only one example of man’s messing with Mother Nature’s gifts to us, and if we humans don’t soon change our ways, our whole planet is in peril of extinction.
